Istanbul, Turkey

On Wednesday, September 9, we were driving into Istanbul, Turkey at around 11 p.m.  It was raining very hard.  All of a sudden, we hit a pot hole in the road and it completely stopped our vehicle.  So, we got out of the vehicle to lift the left rear tire out of the pot hole.  It was raining very hard and the road was flooding; add to both of those, it was a front wheel drive and as the driver accelerated, the front tires sprayed us with water that was on the road.  So, we got soaked from above, from the road, and from the side.  We got a flat tire and looked for an overpass to change the tire.  Finally, a trucker stopped to help us.  With all of the road closings, it was hard to make it to the church where we were staying.  We were also lost and did not know what direction to go.  Thirty two people died that night or the night before because of mud slides.  God protected us and for that, I am very glad!
